I am an ocean swimmer and regularly swim in full daylight. I haven't suffered from a sunburn for a decade. For the past month I have been taking CDS baths (6 safrax 1g tablets in 50 gallon bathtub = ~4ppm CDS). Since I've been taking the baths, I've noticed I am not tanning but burning very quickly when in the sun. Within 15 minutes of sun exposure my arms and legs are getting pink and feel slightly sunburned. Even after staying out of the sun for a couple weeks, the light sunburn seems to heal very slowly, which in the past wouldn't last more then a day.

Has anyone else noticed increased sun sensitivity after CDS baths? It's possible that CDS depletes antioxidants in the skin, which are a primary factor in UV protection.

I asked my friend Tara to comment on your condition and this is what she said:

"I don’t think it’s the Saffrax in particular. I think it’s the general depletion of antioxidants and glutathione. Glutathione and other antioxidants concentrate in the skin and protect it from UV damage, chlorine dioxide can neutralize them. Especially if somebody is not on the most “wholesome” diet.

If I were that person I would be upping my antioxidants… especially those that help repair skin (beta carotene, astaxanthin, vitamin C, vitamin E, green tea extract, resveratrol, coQ10).

I would also be taking supplements to help with glutathione production (glycine, selenium, NAC, whey protein, alpha lipoic acid, garlic, onions, grape juice, sulfur rich foods).

And I would be taking supplements that helped the skin to repair itself faster…protein, collagen rich foods, some form of silica, healthy fats, wild caught fatty fish, avocados, eggs.

And I would avoid inflammatory foods…simple carbs, white flour, white rice, inflammatory seed oils, corn syrup, sugar, alcohol, fruit juice, soda, processed foods."

When you get back to "normal", you could try CDS baths and not Saffrax. We don't know what is in Saffrax, and is the reason why I won't use it.
